Basically I've been trying to apply some of the ideas I read about in that first ebook. If you didn't notice in the last post, I had one or two links that link to products that one could buy. If someone did buy those products I would have gotten a commission. The links for those products came from a company called Clickbank that you must register with in order to have a unique ID that connects you to your commission. You'll also notice that I now have Google ads running at the bottom of my blog. This feature by Google, displays ads that when clicked on by a visitor generates some income for the site it's featured on.
These concepts and techniques are methods termed Affiliate Marketing. In affiliate marketing your goal is essentially to generate income by advertising for a product. There are many ways of doing that. One way is by having a blog wherein you discuss a topic of interest and you allow ads to run on your blog relate to that topic. If someone finds something to buy from your blog you can generate some cash!
I've already incorporated two techniques into my blog for making money. Today I would like to incorporate some more ideas for bringing traffic to my blog. Ideally, the more traffic you have to your site, the more likely it is people will buy products advertised.
I already have an idea about how many people visited my blog because I signed up at Sitemeter.com for a free tool that tracks visits to your website.
Another tool I learned about in this particular ebook to generate some traffic was technorati.com where you sort of announce that your blog has been updated. This way it will come up in search results for people to see.
